Cyber Security Month: Social Media Contests

October is Cyber Security Awareness Month. To promote this, we are going to have a number of cyber security-related social media contests which you can participate and try to win a prize! If you have not liked us on Facebook, go ahead and do that so you can get a head start on the competition! For more information, please contact the Service Desk at 936-294-1950. Here is our first social media contest:

 Monday October 8th will kick off our "NOOO Face" contest. The contest will run through Friday, October 12. Have you ever deleted a file or e-mail that you immediately remembered was extremely important? Have you ever found out something really shocking? Do you remember the face that you made as you said “OH NOOO!” That’s what we want to see from you!

Simply take photo of your “NOOO!” face and upload it to the IT@Sam Facebook Page. The best photo will win a 25$ gift card!

“Instant” Communication

Do you need a quick method to communicate with your co-workers? You have the option of using Jabber as an instant messaging client. To install the software go to Start > All Programs > SHSU Program Installation Menu and click on the Add button next to SHSU Jabber Client. Once it’s installed, you can use our guide for setup instructions on the Technology Tutorials site.

Personal Web Page

Did you know…

That you can create a web page through your SHSU computer account? By using the “_website” folder on your S drive and the website editing software available on campus computers (i.e. Adobe Contribute or Dreamweaver), you can upload videos, pictures and other content to your own personal web page.
